Q: How do you use a horizontal vacuum shovel dryer to manufacture effervescent granules and tablets?
 Effervescent granules and tablets are popular for food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical applications. They dissolve quickly in water while releasing carbon dioxide. Q: How do you determine maximum allowable tip force for tablet compression tooling?
A: Kevin Queensen, Natoli Engineering, says:
 The punch tip force rating is the maximum amount of compression force that a punch tip can withstand before experiencing plastic deformation or fracture. Multiple factors determine the maximum allowable tip force listed on tablet drawings, including the tooling's material properties, such as yield strength and impact toughness; the area and configuration of the punch cup; stress concentration factors, such as bisects and embossing; and the tooling's expected service life.
